The Bottom Line
Coleman generally delivers when it comes to economy, quality, efficiency, and dependability. While lacking the marketing might (at least as far as furnaces are concerned) of major brands like Lennox and Carrier, they’re not a bad option if Coleman furnaces are available in your area.
They have some of the most comprehensive warranties in the industry, and all their furnace models, from standard to premium, are more affordable than many other brands.
Although their heating products don’t have a lot of additional features, Coleman furnaces do promise reliable and efficient performance through many winters.
Coleman Customer Reviews
Many of the homeowners we’ve talked to are very pleased with their Coleman furnaces. People say they're quiet, efficient, and reliable. What's more, they notice a decrease in utility bills after upgrading to a more efficient heating system with a multi-speed or variable-speed blower. At the same time, we have also heard from some people who have experienced problems and inadequate performance, possibly related to improper installation.

Coleman Furnace Model Series Overview
The grades are based on our proprietary algorithm which compares a variety of criteria to make it easy to compare models across brands. Note that models with lower grades aren’t necessarily a bad choice, as lower cost models tend to have more basic features, warranty coverage, or efficiency ratings, which lowers the grade relative to more expensive models.

Coleman’s Entry-Level Furnaces
Average price for an entry-level furnace: $4,700 to $5,700
Models
LX Series - TM9E: Single-stage, multi-speed furnace with an AFUE of 95%. This furnace is equipped with a self-diagnostic control module that can help with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance. That means service calls might be faster and repairs will be more accurate, increasing the longevity of the system.
LX Series - TL9E: Single-stage, multi-speed furnace with an AFUE of 95%. This is an ultra-low NOx furnace, so it’s great for environmentally conscious homeowners and people who live in areas with air quality regulations. This furnace premixes fuel and oxygen before combustion to ensure cleaner burning and lower emissions.
Ideal For
Coleman’s entry-level models are single-stage, so even though they boast high-efficiency AFUEs, they’ll still work best in milder climates or smaller homes. These are perfect if you're looking for simplicity and an affordable heating system that has a great warranty and no innovative technologies. Also great for California homeowners because this is where you'll find Coleman’s ultra-low NOx furnace.
Coleman’s Mid-Range Furnaces
Average price for a mid-range furnace: $5,200 to $6,200
Models
LX Series - TM9Y: Two-stage, multi-speed furnace with an AFUE of 96%. This furnace has a compact cabinet that’s only 33 inches tall, so it fits in small spaces. Furnaces like this are great for homes that don’t have a lot of extra space—it’s also a multi-position furnace, so it can be installed in closets, attics, crawlspaces, and other out-of-the-way places.
LX Series - TM9V: Two-stage, variable-speed furnace with an AFUE of 96%. This furnace is compatible with the Hx™3 Communicating Zoning System. This is a smart thermostat that can give you access to additional features, such as maintenance reminders, maintenance alerts sent directly to your HVAC dealer, hands-free control through Amazon Alexa, and more.
Ideal For
Two-stage furnaces like the ones in Coleman’s mid-range tier are better suited for medium to large homes, and they’ll perform well in colder climates like Canada. These models are perfect if you don’t have a lot of space in your home for a furnace and want a heating system you can control with a smart thermostat that gives you access to a few additional perks and features.
Coleman’s Top-Tier Furnaces
Average price for a top-tier furnace: $5,700 to $6,700
Models
Echelon™ Series - CP9C: Modulating, variable-speed furnace with an AFUE of 98%. This is Coleman’s most advanced furnace, so it has the few technologies the brand offers. It’s compatible with the Hx™3 smart thermostat and has the EcoTrak Comfort System. That means the installer can select the right blower settings depending on whether your climate is humid, dry, or temperate.
Ideal For
This furnace will do well in the coldest of climates and will save you the most on heating bills over the years. Although it doesn’t have a lot of innovations, it does have the few technologies Coleman offers. This will be the most expensive Coleman furnace, but it will also deliver the most precise control over your home’s temperature, humidity levels, and comfort settings.

Exclusive Coleman Features
Feature 1: WhisperDrive Comfort System
WhisperDrive is a proprietary sound reduction system that Coleman uses to guarantee quiet operation from their top-of-the-line furnaces. The system involves a special swept-wing fan design, a sound-reducing cloak, and a composite base pan.
When all of these features are combined, the WhisperDrive system can achieve operational noise levels that are no louder than a dishwasher.
This is an excellent feature that adds to the overall comfort of your home, but unfortunately only Coleman’s top-tier models have it.
Feature 2: Hx3 Thermostat
The Hx3™ is a smart thermostat with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that’s user-friendly and intuitive.
The thermostat can also be controlled remotely using a Wi-Fi connection and a mobile device, or completely hands-free when you sync it with Amazon Alexa. The Hx3 was designed with your comfort and convenience in mind.
You can use the thermostat to monitor, control, and adjust your furnace, and that includes programming settings, controlling humidity levels, managing upgrades, and getting alerts about the system and maintenance requirements.
You can even set it up to send remote alerts to your local HVAC expert about service and repair needs. This thermostat is compatible with most mid-range and top-tier Coleman furnaces.
Feature 3: EcoTrak Comfort System
EcoTrak is a great feature that matches your furnace settings to the needs of your specific climate. During installation, your local HVAC professional can use the EcoTrak technology to set the furnace’s ECM blower motor to one of three climate settings: dry, temperate, or humid.
After installation, the EcoTrak technology will ensure your furnace always performs optimally, no matter what type of winters you experience.
Feature 4: Echelon Residential Communicating Control
This is another advanced thermostat that’s compatible with some mid-range and top-tier Coleman furnaces. This thermostat can be controlled using the touchscreen interface or remotely with a Wi-Fi connected device.
You can use it to control your furnace, customize your comfort settings, and monitor the system.
