Goodman, at a glance
Strong Points
Goodman has a fairly solid reputation in the HVAC industry for many reasons. They offer a wide selection of high-efficiency products that feature superb engineering and decent quality construction (especially their heat exchangers), which are available at a variety of affordable price points.
Goodman offers very comprehensive warranty coverage on almost all of their products, with mid-range and premium priced models receiving additional coverage to protect your investment better.
While certainly not fancy, Goodman furnaces are economical, efficient, quiet, and solid warranty-backed, and all of these factors could save you plenty of money over the years.
Room For Improvement
As a well-established economy-priced brand, Goodman delivers when it comes to price, moderate quality, efficiency, and warranty. However, one area that the brand doesn’t exceed expectations is in the wide array of innovative features included in their products.
Although Goodman offers ComfortBridge™ technology with the CoolCloud™ HVAC App, their furnaces don’t particularly have any innovative designs that increase efficiency.
That being said, even their most basic entry-level furnaces are equipped with secondary heat exchangers that improve efficiency by reducing heat loss and fuel waste.
Despite this lack of additional technologies, Goodman continues to provide Canadian consumers with high-quality products that are simple and effective.
The Bottom Line
When it comes to choosing an affordable and reliable furnace for your Canadian home, Goodman is an excellent option. They don’t offer a lot of cool features or innovative technologies, but they do promise high-quality and high-efficiency furnaces that are budget-friendly and built to last.
Goodman also offers outstanding warranty coverage that should not only provide peace-of-mind but illustrate that they have full confidence in their products.
When compared to their competitors, it’s tough to beat Goodman’s value and efficiency.

Goodman Air Conditioner Average Price Range.
$3,000 – $5,500 (including installation)
Seasonal and locational promotions make it challenging to provide an exact cost, and there are always rebates to look for from HVAC distributors and manufacturers, the government, and local utility companies.
The final price point of your model will depend on the size and location of your home, the specific Goodman furnace you choose, additional factors that could complicate the installation process, and the furnace tier you want.
Goodman furnaces can be broken down into entry-level, mid-range, and top-tier models. If you're on a tight budget, then an entry-level furnace will be the most affordable, though it will have the least to offer as far as features and warranties are concerned.
If you can swing a little more for the furnace, then you'll get a mid-range or top-tier Goodman that will have better features and longer warranty terms.
Let’s have a look at what Goodman furnaces might cost based on the tier:
- Entry-level models: $3,000 – $3,835
- Mid-range models: $3,835 – $4,670
- Top-tier models: $4,670 – $5,500+

This is likely because Goodman has replaced these models with newer or upgraded versions. Check with your local HVAC distributor, or Goodman directly, to inquire about current stock on these models.

Not only does this thermostat let you control your furnace settings, but it also gives you access to improved diagnostics, maintenance reminders, and advanced programming capabilities that can optimize home comfort and further reduce energy costs.
Warranty
Well known for their generous warranty coverage, Goodman offers an impressive selection of coverage throughout their entry-level, mid-range, and top-tier models.
Their coverage includes parts, heat exchanger, and unit replacement warranties. Almost all Goodman furnaces, regardless of tier, are backed by the following warranties:
- Lifetime heat exchanger warranty
- 10-year parts warranty
- 10-year unit replacement warranty
There are only three exceptions to this, and one is the entry-level GMES92. It has the same heat exchanger and parts warranty, but a shorter two-year unit replacement warranty.
The limited-inventory GCSS92 and GMSS92 are the other exceptions: they have the heat exchanger and parts warranty, but no unit replacement warranty. Registration within 60 days of installing your furnace is required to get these full warranty terms.
