AccuLink also features the ability for you to link remotely to your furnace using any internet enabled device such as a smartphone, tablet or computer to check energy consumption and also remotely control the furnace’s operation and settings.

Comfort-R Technology

The variable-speed blower motor in this furnace features Comfort-R technology, allowing greater control over the humidity levels in your home during cooling by linking together a humidity sensor and airspeed controls – which can remove around four times as much moisture from the air as a furnace without this technology.

Other Key Features

  • A three-wire connection which allows for an easier installation
  • Insulated heat exchanger cabinet allowing for a quieter operation

Comparable Models by American Standard

Model comparison by lower-tier – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard Gold 95

The American Standard Gold 95 furnace is in many ways similar to the Platinum 95, with an AFUE rating of 97 percent, meaning 97 cents in every dollar goes towards heating your home, as compared with the Platinum 95’s 97.3 AFUE rating. Where they differ, is the extra features. The Gold 95 doesn’t feature AccuLink and Comfort-R technologies. It also doesn’t have the three-wire connection, meaning a more difficult installation. The only real downside to this model is the loss of these great features.

Model Comparison by features – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard Gold S9X2

The American Standard Gold S9X2 still comes with Comfort-R technology, but you lose the AccuLink technology. To make up for this though, the Gold S9X2 is compatible with the AccuClean technology. AccuClean is a whole-home air filtration system which can remove up to 99.98 percent of allergens from the filtered air. So, if you’re not worried about remotely monitoring your furnace and you like the idea of having a home-filtration system with your furnace, the American Standard Gold S9X2 is a good option.

Model comparison by lower price – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard 92

The American Standard 92 is designed as a value unit while still ensuring a highly-efficient operation. Its AFUE rating of 92.1% is still efficient, but not at the same level as the Platinum 95 running at 97.3%. You also lose AccuLink, Comfort-R, AccuClean compatibility and it’s a single-speed, as opposed to the multi-speed functionality of the Platinum 95. However, it’s sturdy, still efficient and reliable, and features the same warranty as the Platinum 95.

American Standard Silver 95 Review

Joanna · Feb 28, 2021 ·

The American Standard Silver 95 is a single-speed and single stage furnace that has a steel heat exchanger and insulated cabinet. With its 95% AFUE rating and multi-speed blower, it is energy-efficient. The 10-year warranty covers internal parts, while the heat exchanger is protected by a lifetime warranty.

In a Nutshell

Average Price (installed): $3,500 – $4,585

Top Features

  • Multi-port in-shot burners for efficiency
  • 100% fresh air option
  • Sound- and heat-insulated cabinet for quiet use

The Bottom Line

The Silver 95 is an affordable choice that will help lower your upfront costs for the unit and installation. This model has got your basics covered with efficient heating as a reliable unit to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.

In Depth Review

American Standard Silver 95 Product Specifications

  • Sub-models available: AUH1B040A9241A, AUH1B060A9361A, AUH1B080A9421A, AUH1C080A9601A, AUH1C100A9481A, AUH1D100A9601A, AUH1D120A9601A, ADH1B040A9241A, ADH1B065A9421A, ADH1C085A9481A, ADH1D110A9601A
  • AFUE: 95%
  • BTU input: 40,000 – 110,000
  • BTU output: 38,000 – 104,500
  • Low greenhouse gas emission

100% Fresh Air Option

Rather than recycling indoor air, the Silver 95 pulls in air from the outdoors for combustion to increase the longevity of the unit and its parts. This ensures that indoor air doesn’t get recycled through the unit, which can create a vacuum that causes drafts to flow in from windows, doors and any other cracks.

Multi-port In-shot Burners

For peak efficiency, these burners will help to shape the flame over the blower to maximize heating while using less fuel to do so. The multiple ports establish the optimal mix of air and gas to be heated, while the in-shot burners are high-efficiency parts to heat the air induced through the furnace.

Other Key Features

Durable hot surface igniter; an upgrade from old-model pilot lights that are not energy-efficient and potentially dangerous

Heavy stainless steel insulated heat exchanger cabinet to reduce noise and thermally-insulate for less air leakage

Warranty Information

American Standard provides a lifetime limited warranty for the heat exchanger on the Silver 95. They also offer a few options when it comes to the kind of warranty you think is necessary. There is also a 10-year limited warranty on internal parts, and if you register the unit within 60 days of installation, your warranty will include additional coverage on replacement parts.

However, even if you don’t register, you’re still covered by the base warranty, which provides replacement parts that fail under normal use at no charge except for delivery and installation.

Comparable Models by American Standard

Model Comparison by Lower Price – American Standard Silver 95 versus American Standard 92

Further down the line in the American Standard furnace family is the American Standard 92. This affordable model cuts back on a few features that the Silver 95 has, but it doesn’t reduce reliability or functional performance. Unlike the Silver 95, the 92 doesn’t have the same sound-insulation to block the noise from the blower and the AFUE rating is almost three percent higher than the 92, making it a less efficient unit.

Despite those limits, though, the 92 also uses fresh outdoor air for combustion and has the same efficient multi-port burners as the top American Standard models. The 92 is a good choice if you’re price-conscious and don’t mind a few drawbacks.

Model Comparison by Features – American Standard Silver 95 versus American Standard Silver 95h

American Standard has a very similar model to the Silver 95, with slightly upgraded features. The Silver 95h has a more efficient multi-speed blower than the Silver 95 and comes with a cleanable filter. Certain sub-models of the Silver 95h are even ENERGY STAR ® qualified.

However, both units work pretty much the same on the level that most buyers are concerned. The Silver 95 and the 95h are sound-insulated to reduce blower noise and have steel primary and secondary heat exchangers for durability. American Standard put some thoughtful improvements into the 95h, but the similarity between the two units makes either option a good contender for your residence.

Model Comparison by Premium Tier – American Standard Silver 95 versus American Standard Gold 95

American Standard’s Gold 95 has a few nifty features that the Silver 95 doesn’t have, including variable-speed induced draft venting and a two-stage gas valve to minimize fuel and energy usage to only what’s necessary and run more efficiently.

There are a lot of similar qualities shared between the Gold 95 and the Silver 95, such as the sound-insulated blower and the multi-port burners for high performance of these units.

American Standard Silver 95h Review

Joanna · Feb 28, 2021 ·

The American Standard Silver 95h is a high-efficiency single-speed gas furnace with a multi-speed blower and steel primary and secondary heat exchangers. It’s a good option for consumers looking for reliability without too many extras. The registered 10-year warranty covers replacement of internal parts.

In a Nutshell

Average Price (installed): $3,500 – $4,585

Top Features

  • High-efficiency multi-speed ECM blower motor
  • 100% fresh air option
  • Multi-port in-shot burners

The Bottom Line

American Standard has lots of features in the Silver 95h, which offers value for price. Some models of the Silver 95h are even ENERGY STAR ® certified and have useful functions for improved efficiency. With decent warranty options and features like the 100% fresh air usage for combustion, this unit is a reliable option from American Standard

In Depth Review

American Standard Silver 95h Product Specifications:

  • Sub-models available: AUH1B040A9H21B, AUH1B060A9H31B, AUH1B080A9H31C, AUD1C100A9H41B, AUD1D120A9H51B, ADH1B040A9H21B, ADH1B065A9H31B, ADH1C085A9H41B, ADH1D110A9H51B
  • AFUE: 95%
  • BTU input: 40,000 – 110,000
  • BTU output: 38,000 – 104,500
  • Some models are ENERGY STAR certified

High-Efficiency Multi-Speed ECM Blower Motor

The motor in the Silver 95h unit is electronically commutated and provides the exact amount of airflow needed by the burners and the draft venting for efficient and quiet performance. ECM-based units are good for boosting seamless operation and dehumidification.

Cleanable Filter

The Silver 95h has an eco-friendly and money-saving feature by including the cleanable filter. You can rinse or vacuum it to save the hassle of buying a new one, which can cost a few hundred dollars in a year. You’re also contributing less waste to the landfill by reducing the number of filters you use. Having a cleanable filter means it’s less cost-prohibitive to have fresh air circulating throughout your residence.

Other Key Features

  • Heavy steel insulated heat exchanger cabinet
  • Sound-insulated blower compartment

Warranty Information

Once registered, American Standard has a warranty that will cover internal functional parts for 10 years and the heat exchanger for a lifetime. American Standard also offers a transferable warranty for when you sell your house if you register either during your initial warranty registration or after the sale of your home.

Even if you forget to register your furnace, the base limited warranty still applies. Though it is not transferable, it does cover the cost of replacement parts if the originals fail under normal use.

Comparable Models by American Standard

Model Comparison by Lower Price – American Standard Silver 95h versus American Standard 92

The American Standard 92 is a reliable unit and can save you more on the upfront price of the unit by cutting back on some of the less essential features that make the Silver 95h’s performance a little smoother.

The 92 doesn’t have the sound-insulated blower compartment that the 95h has, so it runs a bit louder and it isn’t certified to have less than 2% air leakage. However, both models have a durable hot surface igniter and multi-port in-shot burners so they perform equally in heating your home and keeping it at a comfortable temperature.

Model Comparison by Features – American Standard Silver 95h versus American Standard Silver 95

The American Silver 95h is just a slight upgrade on the Silver 95, so they share a lot of the same features, including reliable and efficient performance. Though the Silver 95h has a high-efficiency multi-speed ECM blower motor for precise temperature adjustments and the Silver 95 does not, they are both sound-insulated to run quietly and are certified to have less than 2% air loss.

The upgrades to the American Standard Silver 95h include the cleanable filter for eco-friendly use and certain models of the furnace are ENERGY STAR certified, meaning a more efficient use of energy and fuel.

Model Comparison by Premium Tier – American Standard Silver 95h versus American Standard Gold 95

The Gold 95 and Silver 95h are well-constructed units that perform efficiently and reliably. The Gold 95, a higher-tier furnace, offers more options for efficient energy use with the variable-speed induced draft venting rather than a single-speed. Unlike the Silver 95h, it has a two-stage gas valve to use fuel more wisely to accurately and quickly respond to temperature adjustments.

Though the Gold 95 has an AFUE of 96%, and the Silver 95h has an AFUE of 95%, the Silver 95h has a cleanable filter and both models are sound- and heat-insulated.
