Ideal For

Modulating furnaces are the most efficient, powerful, and expensive on the market, even for more affordable brands like York. Their Affinity furnace is powerful enough to heat large homes in cold climates, but it’s also more expensive, so you might not want to invest in this furnace if you live in a milder climate. What it really is: The Hx3 Communicating Zoning System is a smart thermostat that’s compatible with zone control. While the device does let you heat and cool parts of your home individually, so do other zone-capable smart thermostats. One nice thing about the Hx3 is that it offers voice control, but you do have to pair it with Amazon Alexa or select Apple Watches to access this feature.

Is it more than just hype? This is a proprietary device, but York, Luxaire, and Coleman all feature the same Hx3 Thermostat. Is it more than just hype? Blower speed can impact the humidity levels in your home, so ClimaTrak technology can help to improve your winter and summer comfort by operating at a level that’s been specifically chosen for your climate.

York is one of the few brands that offers this technology, but they aren't the only one. Coleman and Luxaire both use the ClimaTrak technology as well.

Warranty Analysis

York has an extremely generous warranty, especially considering they're an economy brand. Every York furnace in Canada comes with a warranty for the:

The Complete Assurance warranty is York’s version of a unit replacement guarantee. It means they’ll provide you with a brand new furnace if the heat exchanger fails during the coverage period. Let’s look at the specific coverage for the individual models:

Registration is required

To be eligible for York’s full warranty terms, you must register your new furnace within 90 days of installation.

Failure to register means you'll only be eligible for the base warranty, which only includes a 20-year heat exchanger warranty and a five-year parts warranty. You will completely lose out on the Complete Assurance and the labour warranties.

Registration is quick and painless, so it’s highly recommended. You can go online or do it on the phone. Just provide York with your name and address, the contact information for the licensed HVAC installer, the installation date, and the serial and model numbers of the furnace.

Conditions and restrictions

Aside from registering your York furnace when it’s installed, you have other obligations if you want to keep your warranty valid. Here’s what you'll have to do to keep your warranty coverage:
