In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

AccuLink: Communicating capability with user interface
The AccuLink technology in this unit allows it to communicate directly with technicians, relaying diagnostics, which saves you time and money on service calls and assessments. AccuLink also features the ability for you to link remotely to your furnace using any internet enabled device such as a smartphone, tablet or computer to check energy consumption and also remotely control the furnace’s operation and settings.
Comfort-R Technology
The variable-speed blower motor in this furnace features Comfort-R technology, allowing greater control over the humidity levels in your home during cooling by linking together a humidity sensor and airspeed controls – which can remove around four times as much moisture from the air as a furnace without this technology.
Other Key Features
- A three-wire connection which allows for an easier installation
- Insulated heat exchanger cabinet allowing for a quieter operation
Warranty Information
This model features a 10-year limited parts warranty, which includes all functional parts on the furnace, and a lifetime limited warranty on the heat exchanger as long as you register within the first 60 days for both.
Comparable Models by American Standard
Model comparison by lower-tier – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard Gold 95
The American Standard Gold 95 furnace is in many ways similar to the Platinum 95, with an AFUE rating of 97 percent, meaning 97 cents in every dollar goes towards heating your home, as compared with the Platinum 95’s 97.3 AFUE rating. Where they differ, is the extra features. The Gold 95 doesn't feature AccuLink and Comfort-R technologies. It also doesn't have the three-wire connection, meaning a more difficult installation. The only real downside to this model is the loss of these great features.
Model Comparison by features – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard Gold S9X2
The American Standard Gold S9X2 still comes with Comfort-R technology, but you lose the AccuLink technology. To make up for this though, the Gold S9X2 is compatible with the AccuClean technology. AccuClean is a whole-home air filtration system which can remove up to 99.98 percent of allergens from the filtered air. So, if you’re not worried about remotely monitoring your furnace and you like the idea of having a home-filtration system with your furnace, the American Standard Gold S9X2 is a good option.
Model comparison by lower price – American Standard Platinum 95 vs American Standard 92
The American Standard 92 is designed as a value unit while still ensuring a highly-efficient operation. Its AFUE rating of 92.1% is still efficient, but not at the same level as the Platinum 95 running at 97.3%. You also lose AccuLink, Comfort-R, AccuClean compatibility and it’s a single-speed, as opposed to the multi-speed functionality of the Platinum 95. However, it’s sturdy, still efficient and reliable, and features the same warranty as the Platinum 95.
