American Standard Air Conditioners, At a Glance

Strong Points

American Standard has a solid reputation for a reason–they have provided reliable cooling units for Canadians in the A/C market. Their units are energy efficient, and American Standard offers a choice of options to fit many price ranges. For anyone shopping for an air conditioner, a unit from American Standard is a good contender.

Room For Improvement

The warranty from American Standard covers your basics should part fail, but their warranty for the scroll compressor is not up to the industry standard of lifetime limited warranty like a few other brands.

The Bottom Line

High-quality air conditioning units at an affordable price means that American Standard is accessible to pretty much everyone and offers something that most people would be satisfied with. Though there aren’t many premium models past a 22 SEER, the focus on cooling and the breadth of the lineup means that Canadians stay reliably cool during a hot summer.

Introduction to the American Standard Air Conditioner Series

Good – Silver™ Series

The lower tier of American Standard’s line is affordable and offers a few options to cater to your specific needs. All of the models have a rust-resistant coating and use a refrigerant that is ozone-safe to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Silver 16, in particular, runs quietly and may qualify for a tax credit, while the Silver 16 Low is ideal for tight spaces.

Better – Gold™ Series

The Gold model is a good halfway point between the Silver and the Platinum, and uses a two-stage compressor to make cooling your home more efficient. It uses ozone-safe refrigerant for eco-friendly use and operates with minimal noise. It is efficient with the Spine Fin™ coil technology and is rust-resistant for protection against the elements.

Best – Platinum Series®️

The premium model offers variable-speed air conditioning to maximize efficiency. With enhanced humidity control, the Platinum models save on energy and help your home stay comfortable. The AccuComfort™ uses smart control to run your AC to make sure that it doesn’t cycle on and off.

Platinum models are also quieter than competitors by 4dB and the fan speeds run quietly. You can also expect years of service since the Platinum models are dependable and made with quality materials.
