Comparable Models by Trane
Model Comparison by Price: Trane XR17 versus Trane XR13
The XR13 is the most affordable air conditioner that Trane offers, and it costs at least $1,000 less than the XR17. Some compromises come with the lower price, however, including a much lower SEER rating, a less advanced single-stage compressor, and no ENERGY STAR certification. The XR13 has all the same durability features as the XR17 and has the same warranty terms, but you could save more money year over year with the XR17 because of the higher efficiency rating.
Model Comparison by Features: Trane XR17 versus Trane XV18
The XV18 is a premium offering from Trane and one of their most advanced air conditioners. As a result, it has more features and perks than the XR17, including a variable-speed compressor for even more advanced temperature and humidity control, a higher SEER rating, and an additional two-year warranty on the compressor. The XV18 also has the ComfortLink system for advanced performance monitoring, plus TruComfort technology that promises the most precise temperature control and maintenance.
Model Comparison by Tier: Trane XR17 versus Trane XR16
The XR17 and XR16 are in the same-mid range series and are very similar cooling systems in many ways. They have similar SEER ratings (17 versus 16), have the same warranty terms, and are made with the same durable materials and components. The one difference between them is the XR16 has a less advanced single-stage compressor and is the more affordable cooling system.
