Introduction to the American Standard Air Conditioner Series
Good – Silver™ Series
The lower tier of American Standard’s line is affordable and offers a few options to cater to your specific needs. All of the models have a rust-resistant coating and use a refrigerant that is ozone-safe to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Silver 16, in particular, runs quietly and may qualify for a tax credit, while the Silver 16 Low is ideal for tight spaces.
Better – Gold™ Series
The Gold model is a good halfway point between the Silver and the Platinum, and uses a two-stage compressor to make cooling your home more efficient. It uses ozone-safe refrigerant for eco-friendly use and operates with minimal noise. It is efficient with the Spine Fin™ coil technology and is rust-resistant for protection against the elements.
Best – Platinum Series®️
The premium model offers variable-speed air conditioning to maximize efficiency. With enhanced humidity control, the Platinum models save on energy and help your home stay comfortable. The AccuComfort™ uses smart control to run your AC to make sure that it doesn’t cycle on and off.
Platinum models are also quieter than competitors by 4dB and the fan speeds run quietly. You can also expect years of service since the Platinum models are dependable and made with quality materials.
Model Breakdown and Comparison
What are Warranty and Overall Grades? These grades are calculated using FurnacePrices.ca's own proprietary algorithm which weighs a range of criteria to generate an easy-to-compare score.
Warranty Grades take into account several warranty terms & exclusions found in the fine print to make it easier for ordinary homeowners to compare warranty coverage without having to tediously dig through dense warranty documents.
Overall Grades weigh general factors like efficiency and features, as well as the warranty grade. Note that a model with a low grade is not necessarily a bad choice (more affordable models will usually always score lower). The grades are meant more to make it easier to compare the relative strength of different models. A high end model will score better but also cost a lot more and not necessarily be the ideal option for everyone, just like a sports car will score higher than a minivan in many aspects but isn't necessarily the ideal choice for the average family (despite what your significant other may try to argue!)
