In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

Warranty Information
Despite not ranking as one of Amana's premium-tier air conditioners, the ASX16 still receives the brand's premium-grade warranty coverage. This includes a limited lifetime unit replacement warranty as well as a limited 10-year parts warranty.
To be eligible for the full terms, you'll have to register the unit within 60 days of installation. Otherwise, the ASX16 will only come with a five-year parts warranty. You'll completely lose the unit replacement warranty, whereby Amana would provide a new air conditioner in the event of a compressor failure.
Registration is simple: all you have to do is provide Amana with your contact details, information about the HVAC installer, and some details about the air conditioner and the installation date.
Comparable Models by Amana
Model Comparison by Price: ASX16 versus AVXC20
The ASX16 is available for a much more reasonable price than Amana’s premium-grade products. Let’s compare it to the premium-tier AVXC20, the brand’s most expensive air conditioner, which tends to cost between $5,000 and $6,000+ in Canada.
There are reasons why the AVXC20 is so expensive, including the variable-speed compressor, SEER of 24.5, communicating technology, and compatibility with Amana’s own smart thermostat.
Despite the additional benefits of the AVXC20, this air conditioner might not actually offer better value than the ASX16. The recommended SEER range for Canada is 16 to 18, which is where the ASX16 falls.
Because the AVXC20 has a SEER that’s so much higher, it’s going to cost a lot more without generating much additional energy savings, so it might not be a wise investment for a lot of Canadians.
Model Comparison by Features: ASX16 versus ASXC16
When compared to the brand's selection of premium air conditioning systems, the Amana ASX16 doesn't come standard with as many top-of-the-line innovations and features.
By comparison, the ASXC16 is a premium model from the brand, and while it has the same 16 SEER as the ASX16, it has a more powerful two-stage compressor. That means it will generate similar energy savings, but it will ensure your home is at a more consistent temperature. It will also perform better in larger homes, even during heat waves.
Beyond that, the ASXC16 also has Amana’s other premium features, including their communicating ComfortBridge technology, and it’s compatible with the CoolCloud HVAC app and the ComfortNet Communications System smart thermostat.
Model Comparison by Tier: ASX16 versus ANX13
When compared to another value-tier offering like the ANX13, it’s easy to see why the ASX16 is Amana’s best entry-level model.
The ANX13 has a single-stage compressor as well, but it only has a SEER of 14 and no ENERGY STAR certification. It falls short of the recommended SEER range for Canada, it won’t reduce your energy bills as much, it may not qualify for high-efficiency rebates, and it will be better suited for smaller homes.
The ANX13 also lacks the self-diagnostics system, and it comes with a much shorter two-year unit replacement warranty.
