In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

The CC17 has been engineered for whisper-quiet operation, and it achieves this thanks to the swept-wing fan design, the quieter and more efficient two-stage compressor, and the ECM fan motor that also provides more consistent temperature management and better energy savings. This model has a smaller footprint than most other air conditioners in its class, and this means it’s ideal for smaller homes and spaces, and more affordable than larger units with similar features.

Comparable Models by Coleman
Model Comparison by Price: Coleman CC17 versus Coleman TCHD
The Coleman TCHD is an introductory budget model with basic features and a single-stage compressor. Because of this, it’s not as efficient as the CC17, it doesn’t offer the same humidity control, and it can't provide the same temperature consistency. The TCHD only has a SEER rating of 13, doesn’t have ENERGY STAR certification, and only has a 10-year warranty for the compressor. However, the trade-off is that the TCHD will only cost between $2,000 and $3,300 with installation, so it’s better suited for people on a tighter budget.
Model Comparison by Features: Coleman CC17 versus Coleman AC21
Coleman’s AC21 is their top-tier model, so it has a few more features and benefits than the CC17. The AC21 is equipped with a variable-speed compressor, meaning it’s even better at managing humidity levels and maintaining temperature consistency. The AC21 is also more efficient than the CC17, with a SEER rating as high as 20, meaning it could save you even more on your energy bills. Finally, Coleman’s AC21 has some more advanced features that promise the most efficient operation and easier installation, but it’s more expensive than the CC17 by at least $600, so it may not be suitable for all budgets.
Model Comparison by Tier: Coleman CC17 versus Coleman TW4
The TW4 is one of Coleman’s basic air conditioner models, even though it’s in the same tier as the CC17. You could save a few hundred dollars by opting for the more basic TW4, but there are some compromises, including a lower SEER rating of 14, a less advanced single-stage compressor, no ENERGY STAR certification, a smaller capacity, and shorter warranty terms.
