Tempstar Average Price Range
Get a quick estimate on the cost of a Tempstar furnace with our calculator.
$3,500 – $6,000 (with installation)
You can expect to pay within this range for Tempstar products, and that includes warranties and installation.
As you can see, the price range for Tempstar furnaces is quite large, and that’s because their furnaces are broken down into tiers. Entry-level furnaces will be more affordable, but they won’t offer the same in terms of features and warranty terms.
You'll pay more for a mid-range or top-tier furnace, but you'll also get better features and a better warranty. Here's what you can expect to pay, in general, for Tempstar furnaces in different tiers:
- Entry-level models: $3,500 – $4,335
- Mid-range models: $4,335 – $5,170
- Top-tier models: $5,170 – $6,000
Other things will also impact the cost of your furnace, including where you live, the model you choose and its BTU output and capacity, if there are any installation complications that increase labour costs, and even how many HVAC contractors there are in your area.
Be on the lookout for additional savings through factory and government rebates, utility company promotions, and deals from local HVAC contractors.
Or use the quote form at the top of this page, and we can send you custom quotes from local distributors.
Tempstar Furnace Series
Basic – Performance Series
Reaching AFUE efficiency ratings of up to 96%, the economy-tier Tempstar Performance Series can offer reliable and affordable heating performance for your home. With a single-stage operation, Canadians can be confident that their home is receiving cost-effective comfort for the entire winter.
These models are high-efficiency and have AFUE ratings higher than 90 percent, but none of them have ENERGY STAR® certification, which could impact whether they're eligible for energy rebates.
Better – QuietComfort® Series
The Tempstar QuietComfort® Series furnaces are Tempstar’s mid-range heating systems, but there's currently only one model available.
It’s an affordable two-stage furnace that’s more advanced than the single-stage models available in the entry-level tier. The QuietComfort furnace promises quiet, dependable, and efficient heating performance that will keep your home and family warm for many winters.
Best – Ion Series
Formerly the Deluxe Series models, Tempstar has recently updated its top-tier furnaces with the Ion Series. These are highly efficient modulating and two-stage furnaces that promise reliable operation, consistent temperatures, and energy savings.
These furnaces also have the highest efficiency ratings of any Tempstar furnaces, with their premier model coming in at a whopping 98 percent AFUE.
These models are also equipped with all the best features Tempstar has to offer, including the Ion System Control.

The two-stage operation is still quieter and more efficient than a single-stage furnace, and promises better temperature consistency and humidity control. The ECM blower motor also improves air quality and temperature maintenance, while reducing the need for service. The Ion™ 96 - F96CTN is a highly efficient furnace that’s also compatible with the Ion™ System Control, and has all the same advanced specifications as the premier model to stop heat loss, prevent overheating, and reduce noise levels.

Aside from that, it’s very similar to the other entry-level furnaces from Tempstar in that it has a single-stage gas valve paired with a more advanced variable-speed ECM blower motor. Tempstar Exclusive Features
Feature 1 – Ion™ System Control
Tempstar’s Ion™ System Control provides Wi-Fi-enabled remote control of your heating and cooling system for full function and efficiency control.
Not only does this allow for precision control of your furnace to maximize cost-effectiveness, but the remote access also enables the user to perform convenient and intelligent diagnostics from anywhere.
You can even set up the system to automatically update your local HVAC expert with information about problems with the system and diagnostic information.
Feature 2 – RPJ® Heat Exchanger
Designed to move more heat to the outside surface for increased heat transfer, the RPJ® (or Rigid Press Joint) heat exchanger promises higher efficiency ratings for Tempstar products.
Additionally, the piece’s weld-free interlocking clamshell design will provide further reduction of cracking or separating over your furnace’s lifetime.
Feature 3 – Direct Spark Gas Ignition
Direct spark ignition is something that’s common with many modern furnaces, but it’s still a great feature because it eliminates reliance on a pilot light for ignition.
Instead, the system lights the main burners directly, so you can always depend on your furnace to keep your home warm and comfortable throughout the winter.
