Our Samsung ductless review will tell you everything you need to know about their ductless mini split heating & cooling systems, Samsung models, average pricing, warranty terms, additional features, and more.
If you’re not familiar with ductless heat pumps or Samsung products, then you’ve come to the right place. Samsung may be better known in North America for their electronics division, but they also manufacture a large selection of HVAC products, including ductless mini split heat pumps.
Ductless Mini-Splits, Explained
Ductless mini-splits are a type of air conditioner that don’t require ductwork to cool your home. Many older homes were built before central air and heating were available, and may not have the necessary ductwork to accommodate a central air conditioning system. In these cases, ductless mini splits allow you to control the temperature in your home without having to install ductwork, which can be expensive and challenging.
Ductless systems have two major components: the outdoor and indoor units. The outdoor unit houses the compressor and condenser, while the indoor unit is an air handling system that distributes cold air through your house.
Samsung Heat Pumps
Ductless mini split heat pumps work in much the same way that ductless air conditioners do, using indoor units to distribute air throughout your house. The main difference is that heat pumps have two main modes: heating and cooling. In other words, a heat pump is capable of cooling your home in summer and heating it in winter, eliminating the need for separate heating and cooling units.
Samsung makes ductless air conditioners and heat pumps, and that includes single-zone models, multi-zone units, high-efficiency systems with ENERGY STAR® certification, and indoor and outdoor units that are available in package deals or separately.
Samsung Ductless Air Conditioners, At a Glance
What’s good: Samsung has an impressive selection of ductless heat pump systems that can keep your home comfortable all summer long. This includes indoor and outdoor packages, as well as separate indoor and outdoor models that you can mix and match according to your needs.
Many Samsung systems are high efficiency and ENERGY STAR rated, so they’ll save you money on heating and cooling bills, and you might be eligible for local, government, or manufacturer rebates. Finally, Samsung systems promise fast and efficient cooling, excellent temperature maintenance, and attractive exclusive features that aren’t available from other brands.
What could be improved: While most HVAC manufacturers offer ductless heat pumps and air conditioners, Samsung only has heat pumps. Therefore, if you’re only looking to upgrade your cooling system and aren’t interested in a product that can also provide heat, then Samsung may not be the right brand. Also, most of the brand’s heat pumps are single zone, and there isn’t as much selection if you’re looking for a multi-zone system. Samsung also doesn’t have as strong a brand identity in the HVAC industry as some other manufacturers, similar to other brands known primarily for their consumer electronics like LG.
The bottom line: In their line of ductless systems, Samsung has attempted to use their electronics manufacturer prowess to build reliable mini-split heating and cooling systems. Because the company is so involved with technology and electronics, Samsung heat pumps also come with some novel features that you won’t find with other brands. Lastly, Samsung’s heat pumps are efficient and energy-smart, making them a sound investment when it’s time for an upgrade.
General Price Range for Samsung Ductless Air Conditioners
The average price range for a Samsung ductless mini-split heat pump system is between $3,000 and $5,700 (installation included), but some models can run upwards of $11,000.
With Samsung products, one of the biggest factors that will influence the cost of your system is the model you choose, because the multi-zone models can be far more expensive if you want the most zones and the highest cooling output.
Another thing that will affect the cost is the installation fee, because installation will be more expensive if there are multiple indoor units or other complications. Other things that will also impact the cost of the system include where you live, whether there are rebates or promotions available, and the efficiency of the unit.

Samsung Ductless Air Conditioner Options
Single Zone Indoor and Outdoor Heat Pumps
The majority of Samsung’s ductless heat pumps are single zone systems that include both the indoor and outdoor unit. There are many wall-mounted models to choose from, including high-efficiency and ENERGY STAR ones, units that are specifically designed to eliminate cold drafts, models that promise superior indoor air quality, and even units that are specifically designed to provide comfortable heat in even the coldest climates.
Multi Zone Indoor Heat Pumps
When you have a larger house or want to be able to customize temperature settings in different areas of your home, multi-zone units are the way to go. Samsung has two indoor units that can be paired with a multi-zone outdoor unit, and you can choose between a wall-mounted system that promises quiet operation or a ceiling unit that eliminates drafts. Both models promise fast and reliable cooling, and allow you to customize up to five separate temperature zones.
Multi Zone Outdoor Heat Pumps
Samsung has two multi-zone outdoor units you can pair with their multi-zone indoor units, and these systems let you customize precise comfort settings while also saving energy and money. These outdoor units boast easy and flexible installation, remote operation using the SmartThings app, and dependable and quiet performance. There’s even a specific unit for people in cold climates who have additional heating requirements during the winter months.

Top Ductless System Features from Samsung
SmartThings App
Many Samsung mini splits are Wi-Fi enabled, allowing you to control your cooling system remotely using the SmartThings app on your tablet or smartphone. Whether you’re on the go, away from home, or relaxing after a long day, you can monitor and control your cooling settings with ease from just about anywhere in the world using the SmartThings app.
Smart Check
Smart Check is a self-diagnostic system that automatically monitors the system for errors and faults, diagnoses problems, and even gives you troubleshooting advice through the SmartThings app.
Smart Install
Smart Install is another self-diagnostic system that ensures your unit is installed properly by making sure the refrigerant charge is accurate, monitoring refrigerant flow, and ensuring proper communication between the indoor and outdoor units.
Inverter Compressor Technology
An inverter compressor is a more advanced type of compressor that reduces energy use, reduces noise, saves you money, and ensures better temperature control and maintenance. Unlike regular or single-stage compressors, an inverter compressor has multiple settings in the On mode, so the system can make minor adjustments to the speed and cooling output to keep your home at the perfect temperature, without fluctuations or temperature swings.
Motion Detection Sensor
The motion detection sensor is an additional system you can purchase and install with your ductless system. The sensor monitors if a room is occupied or empty, and the system will automatically lower the cooling output in an empty room to save energy and money. Unlike similar technologies from other manufacturers, Samsung’s motion detection sensor is a smart system that can learn occupancy patterns to maximize the efficacy of the system.
Important Warranty Information
Most Samsung ductless mini splits come with a 10-year warranty that covers functional parts and the compressor, as long as you register the unit after installation. There are two models, however, that have shorter warranty terms, and they are the Quantum 17 and Novus. The Quantum 17 has a seven-year warranty for the compressor and a five-year warranty for other parts. The Novus has a five-year warranty for the compressor and a one-year warranty for parts.
