In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

The Bottom Line
The CVA9 Ion 19 is a premium-grade air conditioning unit powered by a variable-speed compressor and variable-speed fan that deliver a constant supply of cool air. This means better temperature consistency around the house, quieter operation, lower energy bills, and better dehumidification.
Furthermore, the SmartSense technology means the air conditioner will automatically switch between cooling output modes to save you as much money as possible and maximize indoor comfort levels.
Finally, when you pair this air conditioner with the Ion System Control, you get access to a lot of additional features, including communicating and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Keeprite’s CVA9 air conditioner is manufactured to enhance comfort levels in the home. Although it doesn’t really have any novel features, it does have several design elements that reduce operational noise or protect the unit from damage.
In terms of noise-reducing features, the Ion 19 is equipped with a compressor sound blanket, a soft-mounted compressor, and an aerodynamic fan.
As for protective features, this model has a protective wire grille, protective corner posts, a galvanized steel cabinet, a high-gloss, baked on powder coat finish, and more. Plus, every unit is thoroughly tested before leaving the Keeprite factory.

Warranty Information
For peace of mind, Keeprite has paired the CVA9 model with their premium 10-year parts warranty and a 10-year No Hassle Replacement warranty. With the No Hassle Replacement warranty, Keeprite will replace the entire air conditioner if there's a compressor or coil failure during the coverage period.
To be eligible for the full warranty, you'll have to register the air conditioner with Keeprite within 90 days of installation. Registration is highly recommended because the parts warranty will only be five years for unregistered units.
Comparable Models by KeepRite
Model Comparison by Price: CVA9 Ion 19 versus N4A3 Performance 13
The Ion 19 is Keeprite’s most expensive unit, and the Performance 13 is their most affordable. On average, it costs Canadian homeowners $3,000 to $4,500 to buy and install a Performance 13, though it will likely fall closer to the lower end of that price range.
There are several trade-offs with the cheaper unit, and it’s possible that the Ion model actually provides better value.
The Performance 13 is a single-stage air conditioner, so it’s not going to provide the same even and quiet comfort throughout the house. It also has a standard-efficiency SEER of 13, so it won’t save you nearly as much on cooling bills.
Furthermore, it doesn’t have ENERGY STAR certification and may not qualify for a lot of rebates. Rebates can be worth $1,000 or more, so depending on your needs, you might be better off with a more expensive and more efficient unit that qualifies for rebates and that will save you more in the long run.
Model Comparison by Features: CVA9 Ion 19 versus NH4A4 Performance 14
The CVA9 is Keeprite’s most advanced air conditioner, so there's no other model in their product line that can compete in terms of efficiency or design features.
The NH4A4 is a single-stage air conditioner with a SEER of 14, no ENERGY STAR certification, no additional features for quiet operation (though it’s still very quiet), and no compatibility with the Ion System Control.
However, the NH4A4 does have one thing the CVA9 doesn’t: a compact design. The Performance model has a small footprint and a stackable design, making it ideal for multi-family dwellings where a regular air conditioner won’t fit.
The NH4A4 isn't as efficient or as powerful, but if space restrictions are a concern, then it might be the best model for you.
Model Comparison by Tier: CVA9 Ion 19 versus CCA7 Ion 17
The Ion 19 may be Keeprite’s top-of-the-line air conditioner, but the Ion 17 isn't far behind. Instead of offering variable-speed operation, the Ion 17 is a two-stage air conditioner paired with a two-stage fan.
Although it’s not as sophisticated as the Ion 19, the Ion 17 is still more powerful, more efficient, and more sophisticated than basic single-stage A/C units, and it’s compatible with the Ion System Control.
The Ion 17 has a slightly lower SEER of 17, but it still falls into the 16 to 18 SEER range that’s generally perfect for Canadian summers. It also has ENERGY STAR certification, so there's a good chance it will qualify for all the same rebates as the Ion 19.
One thing about the Ion is that it’s quite a bit louder. Even though it has all the same sound-reducing features, it has a decibel rating of 70.
