In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

Warranty Information
KeepRite guarantees comfort and reassurance through their excellent warranty. The CCA7 Ion 17 is backed by a 10-Year Parts Limited Warranty and a 10-Year No Hassle Replacement™ Limited Warranty for the ultimate peace of mind.
The No Hassle Replacement warranty means that if the compressor or coil fails during the coverage period, then KeepRite will provide a new air conditioner instead of repairing the damaged component.
Registration is required for the full warranty coverage. Units that aren't registered within 90 days of installation will only be eligible for a five-year parts warranty.
Comparable Models by KeepRite
Model Comparison by Price: CCA7 Ion 17 versus N4A5 Performance 14
The N4A5 Performance 14 is a much more affordable air conditioner, falling into the $3,000 to $4,500 price range.
You will, however, have to give up some of the Ion 17’s great selling features. For one thing, the Performance model is a single-stage air conditioner with a single-speed fan, and these types of A/C units are less efficient, noisier, and not as good at dehumidification or eliminating hot and cold spots.
The Performance 14 also has a 14 SEER that’s lower than the 16 to 18 SEER range that’s usually perfect for Canadian summers. This model won’t save you as much on annual energy bills, and you'll have to be careful that it’s actually powerful enough to cool your home effectively.
Finally, the Performance model might not qualify for the same rebates as the Ion 17, and those rebates could actually make the Ion 17 closer in price to the less capable Performance 14. Moreover, the Performance model doesn’t have the unit replacement warranty.
Model Comparison by Features: CCA7 Ion 17 versus CVA9 Ion 19
There's only one model in KeepRite’s product lineup that’s superior to the Ion 17, and that’s the Ion 19. This is a variable-speed model that has five stages of operation, meaning it can produce very efficient, quiet, and cost-effective cooling power.
It also has a variable-speed blower motor that can make incremental adjustments to the airflow for more even cooling around the house and fewer hot/cold spots. Beyond that, the two units are comparable in terms of warranty, quiet operation and durability features, and Ion System Control compatibility.
As a result, the Ion 19 has a more efficient SEER of 19, and this could potentially save you more on energy bills compared to the Ion 17. At the same time, the Ion 19 is going to cost more, and it’s possible that it might be a little too powerful for most homes in Canada.
Model Comparison by Tier: CCA7 Ion 17 versus CSA5 Ion 15
The CSA5 Ion 15 is in the same premium tier as the Ion 17, but it’s not as sophisticated or as efficient.
The Ion 15 is a single-stage air conditioner with a single-speed blower motor, and that means lower efficiency, more noise, less dehumidification, and more temperature inconsistencies around the house.
Further, the Ion 15 also has a shorter three-year No Hassle Replacement warranty, and it’s a little louder than the Ion 17. It is, however, still compatible with the Ion System Control, which can improve indoor comfort and temperature/humidity/airflow management.
