In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

The Performance 24ACC6 is one of Carrier’s mid-range models, so it’s more affordable than their premium units but still built to last and provide you with many years of cooling comfort.
The single-stage scroll compressor is well-suited for the cooling needs of most Canadian homes, and the high-efficiency rating will reduce your annual energy bills significantly.
Overall, the Performance 24ACC6 is an excellent air conditioner in terms of performance and operation, and it’s a more economical model if you want a Carrier cooling system without paying a premium price.
This Performance 16 24ACC6 review will cover important information about this model, including pricing, key features, efficiency rating, warranty details, and more. And so you can see what else Carrier has to offer, we’ll also compare the Performance 16 24ACC6 to three other of the brand’s air conditioners.

In Depth Review
Performance 16 24ACC6 Product Specifications:
- Compressor: Single-stage scroll
- SEER: Up to 17
- ENERGY STAR® certified: Yes
- Decibel rating: As low as 72
Features Overview
The Performance 16 24ACC6 has a single-stage compressor, but because it’s a more advanced scroll compressor, the system offers better efficiency, longer durability, and quieter performance than other single-stage air conditioners.
This air conditioner is a quality-made Carrier product, so you can reasonably expect many years of reliable performance.
However, Carrier doesn’t put a lot of emphasis on novel technologies, especially for their entry-level and mid-range products, so the Performance 16 24ACC6 doesn’t have any special features beyond the design elements that guarantee efficiency and longevity.
Other Key Features
- Uses a more environmentally responsible refrigerant than some other air conditioners
- Important internal components are protected by a galvanized steel cabinet
- Comes with WeatherArmor Ultra protection to safeguard the unit from the elements and wear and tear
- Filter drier increases longevity by eliminating moisture and acid from the system
- Has a protective baked-on powder paint finish
- Comes with a louvered steel coil guard
- Compressor sound blanket to reduce noise levels
- Equipped with Carrier’s microtube coil technology for a space-saving design and better protection against corrosion
Warranty Information
Almost every Carrier air conditioner, including mid-range models like the Performance 16 24ACC6, is covered by a 10-year limited parts warranty that includes the compressor, provided you register the unit within 90 days of installation. Unregistered air conditioners are only protected for five years.
Registration is simple and well worth the extra coverage. You'll need to provide Carrier with the date of installation, the name of the licensed HVAC professional who completed the job, your contact information, and the model number of the A/C unit.
Comparable Models by Carrier
Model Comparison by Price: Performance 24ACC6 versus Infinity 24VNA9
As a mid-range model, the Performance 24ACC6 is a good balance between cooling capabilities, energy savings, and affordability. By comparison, a premium Carrier model like the Infinity 24VNA9 costs an average of $5,000 to $7,500+.
This is because the Infinity is a more advanced cooling system. It has a higher SEER rating of 19, lower decibel rating, a multi-speed compressor that affords better cooling capabilities, advanced temperature and humidity control, improved energy performance, and an inverter that further improves operation.
Another thing about the Infinity model is that it’s compatible with Carrier’s own smart thermostat, the Infinity System Control, which can give you access to even more advanced options.
Model Comparison by Features: Performance 24ACC6 versus Comfort 24ABC6
The Comfort 24ABC6 may be a low-tier offering from Carrier, but it’s very similar to the Performance 24ACC6 in terms of efficiency rating, warranty terms, and specifications. In fact, they're both single-stage, 17-SEER air conditioners with 10-year parts warranties.
One of the main differences is the Comfort model doesn’t have a compressor sound blanket, so it’s not as quiet as the mid-range Performance model.
Furthermore, the Comfort model only has WeatherArmor protection, as opposed to the more rugged WeatherArmor Ultra protection that comes with the Performance model.
Model Comparison by Tier: Performance 24ACC6 versus Performance 14 Compact 24AHA4
The Performance 14 Compact 24AHA4 has been designed to take up less space than other Carrier air conditioners because it was made with multi-family homes in mind. Not only is the unit thinner and sleeker, but it only needs 6 inches of clearance all around.
The Performance 14 Compact model is also quieter, with a decibel rating as low as 66, despite the fact that it lacks the compressor sound blanket that the Performance 16 24ACC6 has.
There are some trade-offs, however, including that the compact model only has a 14 SEER rating. Combine that with its single-stage compressor and you get an air conditioner that’s probably better suited to smaller homes.
Another thing is the compact model doesn’t have ENERGY STAR certification, so it could be ineligible for certain rebates designed for high-efficiency air conditioners.
