The Preferred 127A is one of Bryant’s mid-range air conditioner offerings, so it’s powered by a sophisticated two-stage scroll compressor that’s superior to cooling systems with single-stage or standard compressors. Two-stage compressors manage humidity levels better, maintain consistent temperatures more precisely, operate at a quieter level, and achieve better energy efficiency than their single-stage counterparts. Furthermore, the scroll design is more durable, quieter, and more efficient than a standard compressor.

If you're looking to save some money on your air conditioner purchase, there are more economical models in the Bryant line, including the Legacy 106A, which ranges from $3,380 to $4,380. There are compromises with the lower price tag, however, and those include a slightly lower SEER rating and a less advanced single-stage compressor that isn't as efficient, doesn’t eliminate temperature fluctuations the way a two-stage can and doesn’t control humidity as well. Furthermore, while you will save some money on the purchase price of the unit, the Legacy 106A won’t save you as much on monthly bills and could end up costing more in the long-term.

The Preferred 124ANS is a single-stage air conditioner with a SEER rating of 14, but it does have a few advantages the 127A doesn’t offer. For one thing, the purchase price is a couple of hundred dollars lower than the 127A (but as mentioned, the lower efficiency rating will likely result in higher operating costs over time). Another benefit of the 124ANS is its compact size, which makes it perfect for homes with smaller yards or other installation complications. Thanks to the small footprint, the 124ANS can be installed on the roof or/under a deck and can sit as close as six inches from your home.
