In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

Noise-Reducing Features: When running, the Evolution 187B is exceptionally quiet thanks to the quiet-mount compressor grommets, compressor sound blanket, and ECM fan motor. Beyond that, the two-stage compressor also offers quieter operation than an air conditioner with a single-stage compressor, because it can operate at a lower and quieter speed most of the time. Finally, the scroll compressor is quieter than a standard compressor because it has fewer moving parts and doesn’t vibrate as much.

Comparable Models by Bryant
Model Comparison by Price: Bryant Evolution 187B versus Legacy 114C
If price is among your major concerns for a new air conditioner, then it’s important to know the Evolution 187B is at the higher end of Bryant’s price range, while the Legacy 114C is at the lower end. You could save between $1,000 and $2,000 with the lower-end Legacy model, but the trade-off is a lower efficiency rating of 14 and a higher decibel rating of 72. Moreover, because the Legacy only has a SEER rating of 14, it may not meet efficiency requirements set by local governments or environmental agencies.
Model Comparison by Features: Bryant Evolution 187B versus Evolution 187BNC
The Evolution 187B and 187BNC are very similar air conditioners in terms of specifications, features, efficiency rating, and even price. The major difference between the two is the 187BNC has been specifically designed to withstand the harsh environment of coastal climates. This includes additional protective features that prevent damage from the salt in the air and an extra five-year warranty that protects parts from coastal corrosion (along with the registered 10-year parts warranty that comes with both models).
Model Comparison by Tier: Bryant Evolution 187B versus Evolution 180B
The 180B is part of Bryant’s Evolution series, along with the 187B, which is also a two-stage air conditioner that offers excellent temperature consistency and humidity control. The 187B, however, is at least $1,000 more expensive, and this is in part because of its AeroQuiet System II design that promises even quieter operation at 66 decibels, and its much higher efficiency rating and energy-savings. The 187B has a whopping SEER rating of 21, making it the most efficient air conditioner in Bryant’s product line.
