In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

Comparable Models by Armstrong
Model Comparison by Price - Armstrong 4SCU13LE versus Armstrong 4SCU13LB
Though both units have a 14 SEER rating and a lot of the same qualities, there are a few features that the 4SCU13LE has over the 4SCU13LB that may make it a better contender. The 4SCU13LB is not as quiet due to the lack of compressor blanket that dampens some of the operational noise but it performs the same with reliable service to be efficient at transferring heat and killing bacteria in the drain pan.
Model Comparison by Features - Armstrong 4SCU13LE versus Armstrong 4SCU14LB
The 4SCU14LB is slightly more efficient as it has a higher SEER rating of 16. It is also ENERGY STAR® certified, so you will be using less energy to power your unit and in turn, paying less on your energy bills. The 4SCU14LB, however, doesn’t have the compressor sound blanket that the 4SCU13LE has, so it is a little louder. Both units use a single-stage scroll compressor and have the same warranties.
Model Comparison by Tier - Armstrong 4SCU13LE versus Armstrong 4SCU16LE
The 4SCU16LE also has a compressor sound blanket, so both models have about the same level of noise. Each unit uses a single-stage compressor, has Microban®️ protection in the drain pan, and has a pressure failsafe that stops the unit from reaching unsafe pressure levels. The 4SCU16LE, however, has a higher SEER of 16 and it is ENERGY STAR® certified.
