In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

Energy and Heat Efficiency
To help you maintain your unit and keep it running in good condition, the PlusOneⓇ Diagnostics 7-Segment LED display will show you codes that correspond to certain issues that your furnace may be experiencing. These codes can be used to troubleshoot and determine what the problem is and can give your technician a good idea of where to start so they don’t waste time or money on a complicated repair job.
The PlusOneⓇ Water Management System is a feature that can help you avoid having water damage or potential damage to your unit, which will save on repair costs overall. It senses when the drain becomes blocked and turns off the furnace so that you can have it serviced. The PlusOneⓇ Ignition System uses Direct Spark Ignition, the same kind used in stoves and ovens for a reliable heating unit. The tested design should last a long time and operate without issue.
The blower shelf is oriented such that it can be accessed in any position and the small 34-inch cabinet can fit in small spaces and still have room to be accessed without too much trouble or squeezing. This helps save on installation costs, since it’s not a difficult job and will save on repairs or servicing in the future.
The noise from the operation of the unit is cut back by 20% since the R95P has improved airflow. This makes it more efficient with less wasted air and without using extra energy to force the air through tight spots. The single-stage burner means that the furnace is nearly silent when not on and runs at full capacity to quickly heat your home to a comfortable temperature.
The warranty that Ruud offers for the heat exchanger is for a lifetime. However, the heat exchanger itself is durable and made of aluminized steel to maximize corrosion resistance and to provide strength to withstand the pressure of the high heat that it goes through. It is also removable for quick and hassle-free servicing or repair. All other parts fall under the 10-year warranty, which requires the homeowner to register the unit once installed.
Comparable Models by Ruud
Model Comparison by Lower Price - Ruud Achiever Series R95P versus Ruud Achiever Series R92P
The R92P is part of the same line of Achiever Series, and it is a basic model that is not ENERGY STAR ® certified either. The main difference is that the R95P has an AFUE of 95%, while the R92P is 92%. Both models feature a single-stage, multi-position PSC, which is relatively efficient though not necessarily the quietest operation. There is a removable heat exchanger in each model and both use a direct spark ignition.
Model Comparison by Features - Ruud Achiever Series R95P versus Ruud Achiever Plus Series R92T
The R92T is part of another line, and is ENERGY STAR certified despite having a lower AFUE of 92%. It is a single-stage furnace as well, though it uses a constant torque ECM as its blower, and therefore is a little more efficient than the PSC. A removable heat exchanger in both means that servicing and replacement is an easy take. The warranties for both models are the same, with 10 years for parts and a lifetime for the heat exchanger. The R92T is slightly quieter than this model.
Model Comparison by Premium Tier - Ruud Achiever Series R95P versus Ruud Achiever Plus Series R95T
The R95T is the upgraded model from the Achiever Plus line to the R95P. The R95T is ENERGY STAR certified and also has an AFUE of 95%. It operates quietly with the constant torque motor and runs efficiently at multiple speeds in comparison to the multi-position PSC. Both models are single-stage furnaces and have removable heat exchangers for repair or replacement. The warranties cover the same things, heat exchanger for a lifetime and parts for 10 years.
