In order to help homeowners shop for furnaces and air conditioners, we developed our own proprietary algorithms which weigh a range of criteria and factors to provide an easy-to-compare grade (e.g. B-, A+, etc).
Warranty Grade: It can be difficult to know which brands and models offer the best warranty coverage, particularly because a lot of the key details are hidden in dense warranty documents filled with hard to understand legalese. Thankfully for you, we’ve carefully studied them and created this grading system to account for things like the length AND quality of their guarantee, coverage restrictions and more!
Overall Grade: This grade weighs key factors like efficiency, ENERGY STAR certification, comfort, noise level (for A/Cs), our warranty grade, and more.

The Bottom Line
Should you be looking for an air conditioning system that can deliver efficient and effective cooling comfort, then the Amana ASXC16 might be the model for you.
The unit can achieve a SEER up to 16 thanks to the two-stage Copeland scroll compressor that automatically switches between the high and low cooling output to deliver efficient and consistent cooling to your home.
The SEER of 16 is also in the 16 to 18 range that’s generally recommended for Canada, so this model will offer a good balance between purchase price and long-term energy savings. And because it has ENERGY STAR certification, it’s more likely to qualify for rebates that would lower the price.
Backed by Amana's comprehensive warranty, the ASXC16 offers peace of mind to Canadian consumers who will know that their investment is fully protected.

Features Overview
Amana has some appealing features that are available with premium models like the ASXC16, and one of those is ComfortBridge technology. This is a built-in communicating technology that gathers information about the air conditioner’s performance and uses it to make automatic adjustments that will enhance your indoor comfort and reduce energy use.
It’s also compatible with the CoolCloud HVAC app, which contractors can use to access important system information and make maintenance and service calls faster and more accurate.
There's also the self-diagnostics system that monitors the system for performance and failures. It can shut the system down to prevent catastrophic failures and provide HVAC technicians with important information that will facilitate troubleshooting and repairs.
Finally, the ASXC16 is compatible with the ComfortNet Communications System, a communicating smart thermostat that has some great additional features.

Warranty Information
Similar to Amana's other top-tier air conditioners, the ASXC16 is fully covered by the brand's extensive premium warranty. This includes a limited lifetime unit replacement warranty as well as a limited 10-year parts warranty.
With the unit replacement warranty, Amana will provide a new air conditioner if the compressor fails at any time during the ASXC16’s life.
Registration is required to get the full warranty terms. Once the unit is installed, you'll have 60 days to register it, otherwise you’ll lose five years of parts coverage and the entire unit replacement warranty.
To register, just go online and provide Amana with your name, the HVAC installer’s name, the A/C’s model and serial numbers, and the installation date.
Comparable Models by Amana
Model Comparison by Price: ASXC16 versus ASX16
The ASX16 is a value-tier air conditioner from Amana. It has the same SEER as the ASXC16, so it falls into the same $4,500 to $5,500 price range. However, the ASX16 will be more affordable because it doesn’t have all the same premium features.
For example, the ASX16 doesn’t have the ComfortBridge technology, and it’s not compatible with either the CoolCloud HVAC app or the ComfortNet communicating thermostat.
Nonetheless, the ASX16 does have some important things in common with the premium model, including the two-stage compressor, the warranty terms, self-diagnostics, sound performance, ENERGY STAR certification, high-efficiency SEER, and cost-saving potential. It’s also more economical and should still qualify for the same rebates as the ASXC16.
Model Comparison by Features: ASXC16 versus ASX13
When you compare the ASXC16 to a value-tier model like the ASX13, you'll really appreciate the ASXC16’s features.
The ASX13 is a single-stage air conditioner that can only operate at 100 percent capacity. It only has a SEER of 14, which falls short of the range that’s recommended for Canada. It also lacks ENERGY STAR certification, so while it will be more affordable, it won’t save as much on energy bills and may not qualify for rebates.
The ASX13 is also going to be best suited for smaller homes, and wouldn’t be powerful enough to cool medium or large spaces, especially during heat waves.
Finally, it only has a two-year unit replacement warranty, and aside from the self-diagnostics, it doesn’t have any of the premium features or compatibilities offered by the ASXC16.
Model Comparison by Tier: ASXC16 versus AVXC20
The AVXC20 is Amana’s premier air conditioner. It has all the same features as the ASXC16 and more.
The main difference between the two models is the AVXC20 has a powerful variable-speed compressor that makes automatic adjustments to the cooling output in very small increments. This improves efficiency, reduces noise, increases temperature consistency around the house, and reduces excess moisture.
While variable-speed compressors offer superior performance, the AVXC20 is probably going to be too much air conditioner for most Canadian homes. It has a SEER of 24.5, but anything above 18 is generally for hotter and longer summers than we experience in Canada. You'll spend a lot more on the AVXC20 but won’t see a lot more energy savings compared to the ASXC16.
