Good: Warranty coverage is a key element to consider when researching which high-efficiency natural gas furnace is right for you.  Napoleon® takes the worry out for many Canadian consumers with their 10 year and 15 year unit replacement warranty coverage.  The affordability of a Napoleon® home heating systems is on par with other manufacturers in the mid-range priced brand tier.

Want: Perhaps most glaring is the fact that none of the Napoleon ® furnaces appear to be ENERGY STAR certified, which puts them at a distinct disadvantage, as their competitors in the mid-range priced brand tier each have at least one ENERGY STAR certified model. Although Napoleon is listed on Natural Resources Canada’s website and although several of Napoleon’s models have an AFUE rating of 95% and above, there is no mention of any of their products actually being ENERGY STAR certified.

Napoleon®’s line up of energy-efficient furnaces is made up exclusively of single stage and two stage furnace models.  Noticeably absent are modulating furnaces, one of the most energy-efficient types available on the market.  Adding a modulating furnace to their product line up would allow Napoleon®  to be competitive with other mid-range priced brands, such as: Coleman®, ComfortMaker®, Heil®, and Luxaire® to name a few.

The Bottom Line: Napoleon® provides good value for consumers looking to upgrade to a high-efficiency Single Stage or Two Stage furnace in order to reduce their monthly energy bills.
