Heil, at a glance

Strong Points

Heil’s major strength is that it delivers on pricing and affordability. They also have a wide range of energy-efficient furnaces that are ideal for both residential and small commercial use.

Room For Improvement

Heil hits every category of quality with a 90%+ rating from consumers. As a whole, Heil’s furnace line has a slightly lower average AFUE as compared to other top brands, but the difference is too small to be of any significant importance.

The Bottom Line

Heil is ideal for Canadian consumers who are looking to purchase a furnace from a brand with excellent warranty coverage. However, it can be tougher to find Heil distributors as compared to some of the other top brands such as Goodman.

Heil was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the United States in 1929. The company originally began as a supplier of HVAC products to major companies in the United States, namely Sears. Heil later partnered with Sears to acquire Florence Stove Co. which resulted in the company moving its headquarters from Wisconsin to Tennessee.

Whirlpool, which was a major supplier to Sears, later acquired a stake in Heil in 1964. Then in 1986, International Comfort Products Corporation (ICP), a company that designs and manufactures HVAC systems, oil and gas furnaces acquired a stake in Heil. In 1999, Carrier acquired ICP. Today, Heil is a brand under Carrier. The company’s headquarters today is located in Lewisburg, Tennessee in the United States.

Heil is globally recognized as a leader in high-efficiency gas furnaces. Backed by over 100 years of innovative engineering and manufacturing, Canadian homeowners can trust Heil as a recommended heating and cooling brand that delivers outstanding, dependable performance.
